US Admiral Bull Halsey
These skillfully crafted 1:32 scale pewter sculptures reflect the pride and with which American, British and German soldiers of WWII fought for their countries. This collection features prominent heroes and leaders from one of our country's most significant wars including infantry soldiers and notable wartime leaders. Each figure is handcrafted with appropriate uniform and weaponry. The figures stand approximately 2.5-inches high. Prior to W.W. II, Halsey graduated from both the Navy and Army War Colleges and completed flight training at Pensacola. He was promoted to Rear Admiral in March of 1938 and was later attached to Carrier Division 2 in the Pacific. After Pearl Harbor, Halsey took ill for a short time and missed the Doolittle Raid and Battle of Midway. He was appointed Commander of South Pacific forces and although suffering a tactical defeat at Santa Cruz, he gained strategic victory with the American navel presence off Guadalcanal. Halsey directed the Naval support for the capture of the Solomons and isolated the major Japanese base at Rabaul. He was baited by the Japanese off Luzon and thereby left the San Bernardino Straits protected by just a weak force. His dash to protect this force has been known as "Bull's Run". He continued amphibious operations in the Philippines and later commanded sea operations in the Okinawa campaign.
