Field Marshall Rundstedt 17275 (1 in stock)

Field Marshall Rundstedt

These skillfully crafted 1:32 scale pewter sculptures reflect the pride and with which American, British and German soldiers of WWII fought for their countries. This collection features prominent heroes and leaders from one of our country's most significant wars including infantry soldiers and notable wartime leaders. Each figure is handcrafted with appropriate uniform and weaponry. The figures stand approximately 2.5-inches high. With the start of World War II in September 1939, Generaloberst Rundstedt commanded Army Group South as it rolled over the Polish Army and advanced to Warsaw. In May 1940, panzer divisions from Rundstedt's Army Group A smashed through French defenses along the Meuse River and drove to the English Channel. For these quick and decisive victories, Hitler rewarded Rundstedt by elevating him to field marshal. During Operation Barbarossa in 1941, Rundstedt's Army Group South clawed its way to Rostov, the gateway to the oil-rich Caucasus region, only to give ground before fierce Soviet counterattacks. Reassigned by Hitler as Commander-in-Chief West, Rundstedt tried to repulse the Anglo-American invasion of France that began at Normandy in June 1944. Hamstrung by Hitler's meddling and a lack of men, materiel, and air power, Rundstedt still managed to delay the inexorable Allied advance across Western Europe. Packaged in a closed box.
